Cool Capybaras!
This is a article all about capybaras! Capybaras are actually the largest rodent IN THE WORLD! Read the article to find out more.
Hello! Today we are writing about a big hairy animal, with long front teeth and webbed paws. This creature is known as…
The adorable capybara species! So what are these animals? Is that fur? Are they aquatic? Do they hibernate? Let’s find out!
Capybaras are very big. They can be from 3.2 feet to up to 4.2 feet! They are actually the largest rodents in the whole world! Yes, capybaras have fur, but it is not the soft, fluffy fur that you feel on a dog. The fur on a capybara feels a little bit closer to the hair on a coconut. Capybaras have tiny little ears on the top of their head that wiggle to keep water out. Suprisingly, capybaras actually have tails!… Even though they are pretty hard to see… Their tails are very small and… don’t actually do anything.
Capybaras are semi-aquatic. That means, they can swim, and they do swim, but they don’t live underwater or have to be underwater. They still have to come up for air. Capybaras do not hibernate. They are awake all year long!
Capybaras are vegetarian and eat nothing but fruits and veggies after they do not need their mother’s milk, anymore. Another thing they eat is… THEIR OWN FECES!! Ew…
Even though they might look like it, capybaras are not related to dogs… or gophers… OR hippos… but believe it or not, they are actually closely related to guinea pigs and rats! Wow!
Capybaras are thankfully not considered endangered, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t help the wildlife!
YOU can be a huge help! Just try not to harm any plants and animals, throw away the the trash you find, and always think of new ways to help the wildlife!
